Is Mytheresa Legit? The Short Answer

Yes. Mytheresa is a legitimate luxury retailer, not a marketplace. You buy from Mytheresa itself, and its FAQ says: "You can rest assured that all products on our website are authentic and delivered to us directly from the brands we stock." It is part of LuxExperience, a group listed on the New York Stock Exchange that also owns NET-A-PORTER and MR PORTER. The things to check before ordering are not about authenticity but about the terms for your country: returns, shipping costs and duties differ by country site. This review reflects Mytheresa's own pages as we read them at the time of writing (October 2026).

Who Owns Mytheresa

Mytheresa grew out of Theresa, a boutique Susanne and Christoph Botschen opened in Munich in 1987. The online store launched in 2006 and the company is still based in Munich.

  • 2014: Neiman Marcus Group bought Mytheresa. (See our Neiman Marcus review for what happened to that group since.)
  • 2020: when Neiman Marcus went through Chapter 11, Mytheresa was carved out to financial investors.
  • January 2021: its parent company, MYT Netherlands Parent B.V., listed on the NYSE.
  • April 2025: Mytheresa completed its purchase of YOOX NET-A-PORTER from Richemont. Richemont received shares representing 33% of the company's fully diluted share capital.
  • May 2025: the parent company was renamed LuxExperience B.V. and trades on the NYSE as LUXE. The group runs Mytheresa, NET-A-PORTER and MR PORTER as its luxury stores, and YOOX and THE OUTNET as its off-price business.

A publicly listed parent matters for a buyer in a practical way: the company publishes audited results and its ownership is a matter of public record, which is the opposite of the anonymous shops that copy luxury listings.

Where Mytheresa's Stock Comes From

Mytheresa buys and sells new merchandise as a retailer. Its own wording is that it is "an authorized global online retailer" and that products are "delivered to us directly from the brands we stock". Its group describes the store as a "highly curated edit" of up to 250 brands, shipping to more than 130 countries.

That is the key difference from a resale site. On a resale marketplace, authentication is the platform's job because the goods come from strangers. At a retailer like Mytheresa, authenticity rests on the supply chain: the brand ships to the store, the store ships to you. A Mytheresa order does not come with a separate authentication certificate, and it does not need one in the way a pre-owned item does.

Returns, Costs and Duties

Mytheresa's return terms are set per country site. As an example, the Canada site says at the time of writing:

  • 30 days. You can return or exchange within 30 days of receipt.
  • Original condition, tags attached. Include all item boxes and dust bags.
  • Shipping is not refunded. Mytheresa does not refund shipping costs on returns.
  • Not returnable: items marked Final Sale and customized items.
  • Refunds go to the original payment method, or store credit if you choose it.

Other country sites set a different window or cost, so open the returns page for the country you are ordering from, not a summary on a third-party site. If you order from outside the EU, check at checkout whether duties and taxes are included in the price or charged on delivery.

Mytheresa Reviews: What We Do and Do Not Rate

We have not counted or scored customer reviews, so this page gives no rating. Reviews of any large retailer mix delivery, customs and customer-service experiences with the product itself. For a legitimacy question, the checkable facts carry more weight: who owns the company, where its stock comes from, and what the return terms say.

How to Make Sure You Are on the Real Mytheresa

Copycat shops borrow the names of well-known retailers. Before you pay:

  • Type the address yourself. The store is at mytheresa.com, with a country and language path after it.
  • Distrust prices far below every other retailer, especially on current-season pieces from houses that rarely discount.
  • Pay with a card or another method with buyer protection, never by bank transfer or crypto to a "store".

If something you bought online, from Mytheresa or anywhere else, does not look right, an independent check gives you evidence for the return or a card dispute.

A code that checks out doesn't prove the item is real. Counterfeiters copy genuine codes.

Our authenticators check the stamps, hardware and construction against verified references. You get a verdict within 24 hours, and a Certificate of Authenticity if the item passes.

FAQ

Is Mytheresa legit?

Yes. Mytheresa is a Munich-based luxury retailer founded online in 2006, owned by LuxExperience B.V., which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange. It sells new merchandise and says its products are delivered directly from the brands it stocks.

Does Mytheresa sell authentic products?

Mytheresa's FAQ says all products on its website are authentic and delivered directly from the brands it stocks. It is a retailer, not a resale marketplace, so items do not come from private sellers.

Who owns Mytheresa?

LuxExperience B.V. (NYSE: LUXE), formerly MYT Netherlands Parent B.V. It took the new name in May 2025 after buying YOOX NET-A-PORTER from Richemont, which received a 33% stake. Neiman Marcus Group owned Mytheresa from 2014 to 2020.

What is Mytheresa's return policy?

It depends on the country site. The Canada site, for example, allows returns or exchanges within 30 days of receipt, with tags attached and boxes and dust bags included; shipping costs are not refunded, and Final Sale and customized items cannot be returned. Check the returns page for your own country before ordering.

Is Mytheresa the same company as NET-A-PORTER?

They are sister stores. Since April 2025 both belong to LuxExperience, which runs Mytheresa, NET-A-PORTER and MR PORTER as separate stores.
