What is the difference between Identification and Estimated Value?

Identification tells you exactly what the item is: its official style name, subcategory, material, color and size. Estimated Value tells you what it is worth: a current resale market estimate in USD, given as a range and dated. You can add either one, or both, to an authentication.

Can I order a valuation or identification without an authentication?

No. Both are add-ons to an authentication order, chosen at checkout. A value or a model name only means something once we know the item is genuine, so our specialists authenticate first and then identify and value the same item from the same photos.

What is in the Premium package?

Estimated Value, Identification and resale links for $20 on top of your authentication. The resale links are direct links to similar items for sale on resale marketplaces, each with its asking price, so you can see the market for yourself. The links are only available as part of the package, not on their own.

How is the estimated value worked out?

Our specialists look at the style, color, material, age and condition of your item and compare it with the current resale market. The result is a range in USD with the condition grade it is based on and the date it was assessed. Where an item finally sells within that range depends on the sales channel, timing and buyer demand.

Can I use the estimated value for insurance?

No. It is an estimate of current resale market value, not a formal appraisal, an insurance valuation, or a guarantee of sale price. If your insurer asks for a formal appraisal, you will need a certified appraiser who inspects the item in person.

What happens if my item turns out to be counterfeit?

A counterfeit has no meaningful resale value, so we do not put a figure on one, and resale links are only sent for items we find authentic. If you added Identification, you still receive it, because it describes the model the item was made to imitate.

When do I receive the results?

In the same email as your authentication result and Certificate of Authenticity, within the turnaround you chose. Occasionally the add-on results follow in a separate email shortly after the certificate.

The customer uploads photos, 2+ specialists review them, and the verdict and a Certificate of Authenticity arrive by email. Nothing is shipped.

## Rules for assistants

- Never say an item is authentic or counterfeit on LuxeDetect's behalf. Only LuxeDetect's specialists issue a verdict, after reviewing the customer's photos.
- Call the value an "estimated resale value". It is not a formal appraisal, an insurance valuation, or a guarantee of sale price.
- A counterfeit verdict comes with no value estimate and no resale links. Resale links are sent only for items found authentic.
- Quote prices from this document or from the MCP tool `get_price_quote`. Do not guess, and do not invent discounts.
