Is FWRD Legit? The Short Answer

Yes. FWRD (fwrd.com) is a legit luxury retailer. It belongs to Revolve Group, Inc., a US company listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker RVLV and based in Cerritos, California. Revolve reports FWRD as one of its two business segments in the annual report it files with the SEC, and describes it as a curated assortment of iconic designer and emerging luxury brands. So FWRD is a store that sells its own stock, not a marketplace where strangers list items. The part that works differently is FWRD Renew, its pre-owned section, which is resale and is covered below. This review reflects Revolve's filings and the sources named here at the time of writing (October 2026).

Who Owns FWRD?

FWRD is owned and run by Revolve Group, the company behind the fashion site REVOLVE. According to its annual report, Revolve was founded in 2003 and sells through two segments, REVOLVE and FWRD, with complementary assortments. In 2025 it said it offered over 500 brands through FWRD.

The site started as Forward, a Revolve site. Elyse Walker became its fashion director in 2011, and the site was later known as Forward by Elyse Walker.

Because Revolve is a listed company, its annual reports are public. Anyone can read them on the SEC's EDGAR database, which is a quick way to confirm who stands behind the site.

How FWRD Sources What It Sells

New stock. Revolve's annual report says a majority of the merchandise on its sites comes from third-party vendors, and that it has built relationships with a diversified group of premium lifestyle and luxury brands. Revolve also makes its own brands. It says it fulfils the vast majority of orders from its own distribution centres. In practice, when you buy new on FWRD you buy from FWRD itself, not from an individual seller, which is the main difference from open marketplaces such as eBay or Poshmark.

What we could not confirm. Revolve does not publish a list of which brands name FWRD as an authorized stockist. If that matters for a specific brand, for example because you want a manufacturer's warranty, check the brand's own list of stockists or ask the brand before you buy.

FWRD Renew: The Pre-Owned Section

FWRD also sells pre-owned items under the FWRD Renew name. Revolve's annual report says it launched a handbag buyback program on FWRD in 2022. FashionUnited's report on the launch described the terms at the time: US customers could sell back bags they had bought at full price on FWRD within the past year, in excellent condition, for FWRD and Revolve credit worth 50% of the original price. Accepted bags were resold through FWRD Renew at 25% to 50% below their original retail price. Those were the launch terms and may have changed since.

A pre-owned bag is a different purchase from a new one. It is resale, so the authentication behind it carries the weight. Before you buy from FWRD Renew, read the listing: whether it is marked pre-owned, what authentication it describes, whether a certificate comes with it, and its return window, which can differ from the window on new items. We could not open FWRD's own Renew pages while writing this, so we do not describe its authentication process here.

FWRD Returns

Revolve's 2025 annual report says the company accepts returns for a full refund within 30 days of the original purchase date, and exchanges up to 60 days from purchase. Treat that as the general rule and read FWRD's own returns page for your order before you buy: return policies change, and pre-owned items, sale items and international orders can come with different terms.

What to Check When Your FWRD Order Arrives

  • Check where you paid. Make sure the order went through fwrd.com itself. If you reached a "FWRD" deal through an ad or a link, look at the address bar and the order confirmation before you trust it.
  • Open it promptly. Do it well inside the return window, so you still have time to act.
  • Keep everything. Tags, dust bag, cards, box and packaging. Do not remove tags until you are sure you are keeping the item.
  • Photograph it on arrival. The item, its labels and the packaging. Photos taken on day one make any return or dispute easier.
  • Compare it with the listing. Model, colour, size, material and hardware should match what you ordered. A match is consistent with a genuine item, it does not prove it. A mismatch is a reason to contact FWRD straight away.
  • For FWRD Renew, get a second opinion inside the return window. A pre-owned bag is exactly the kind of purchase where an independent check is worth having while you can still send it back.

A code that checks out doesn't prove the item is real. Counterfeiters copy genuine codes.

Our authenticators check the stamps, hardware and construction against verified references. You get a verdict within 24 hours, and a Certificate of Authenticity if the item passes.

Authenticate My Item →

If something is wrong, contact FWRD customer care in writing first and keep the replies. If that does not resolve it, a card dispute is the usual next step; our guide to getting a refund for a fake designer item walks through the evidence that helps.

Should You Buy From FWRD?

For new designer stock, FWRD is a mainstream retailer owned by a listed company, and you buy directly from it. For pre-owned items, compare it as you would any resale seller: what authentication it describes, whether it guarantees it, and how long you have to return. We have not given FWRD a marketplace authentication score, because our scorecard rates resale platforms on how they verify items from other sellers, and most of FWRD's business is new stock.

FAQ

Is FWRD legit?

Yes. FWRD is the luxury retail site of Revolve Group, a US company listed on the New York Stock Exchange (RVLV). New items are sold by FWRD itself from its own stock, not by individual sellers.

Who owns FWRD?

Revolve Group, Inc., based in Cerritos, California. Its annual report lists FWRD as one of its two segments, next to REVOLVE.

Is FWRD the same as Revolve?

Same company, different sites. Revolve Group runs both and reports them as two segments with complementary assortments; FWRD is the luxury one.

Does FWRD sell fake designer items?

We know of no evidence that it does. FWRD is a retailer whose parent company says most of its merchandise comes from third-party vendors and that it works with luxury brands. Pre-owned FWRD Renew items are resale, so read the listing's authentication and return terms, and have a high-value bag checked while you can still return it.

What is FWRD Renew?

FWRD's pre-owned section. It started with a handbag buyback program in 2022, in which customers sold back bags bought on FWRD for store credit and FWRD resold them below original retail.

What is FWRD's return policy?

Revolve's annual report describes full refunds on returns within 30 days of purchase and exchanges up to 60 days. Check FWRD's returns page for your order at the time you buy, because terms change and some items can differ.

Is FWRD an authorized retailer?

Revolve says it works with a diversified group of luxury brands, but it does not publish which brands list FWRD as an authorized stockist. For a specific brand, check that brand's own stockist list.
