Which Supreme LV Hoodie Is Actually the Collaboration?
The Supreme Louis Vuitton hoodie is the red box logo hoodie covered in the Louis Vuitton monogram, shown on the runway at Louis Vuitton's Fall/Winter 2017 menswear show in Paris and released in summer 2017. It was a real, one-off collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Supreme, and that is exactly why so many Supreme LV hoodie listings are fakes: the real one is famous, scarce and far more expensive than a normal Supreme hoodie, and almost anyone can print a monogram on a red sweatshirt.
Two things to separate before looking at any garment:
- The real collaboration pieces. Public coverage of the 2017 line lists Box Logo hoodies and tees, monogram jackets and baseball jerseys, a denim trucker jacket, a red monogram scarf and bags. The monogram was reworked in Supreme's red and white.
- Everything else that says Supreme and Vuitton. Plain red sweatshirts with a monogram only on the hood, tees with the word Supreme repeated across a monogram print, and belts, wallets and backpacks in "Supreme LV" designs. Many of these are not copies of any collaboration piece. They are invented designs sold under the name.
Our evidence for this guide is narrow. We have reviewed counterfeit monogram hoodies, sweatshirts and tees sold under this name, but we do not have a verified genuine collaboration hoodie to photograph. So there is no real-vs-fake comparison table here, and no single tell we can promise condemns or clears a piece. What follows is what the public sources say the real pieces were, what we have seen on counterfeits, and how to use both. For the standalone Supreme box logo (the plain red hoodie), read How to Spot a Fake Supreme Box Logo Hoodie; for Louis Vuitton labels in general, read Louis Vuitton Clothing Real vs Fake.
What the Real Supreme Louis Vuitton Hoodie Was
From the sources we opened (listed at the end), the public record of the genuine hoodie is short:
- It was part of Louis Vuitton's FW17 menswear collection, designed under Kim Jones with Supreme, and sold through a limited release (pop-up shops worldwide, and to select clients, according to a 2018 retail authentication article).
- It is a red cotton hoodie with white graphics: the Supreme box logo over an all-over Louis Vuitton monogram. A 2020 Sotheby's lot describes it as 88% cotton and 12% viscose, made in Italy, with tags still attached and in a Louis Vuitton box, and estimated it at 4,000 to 6,000 USD.
- It came from Louis Vuitton, so it should read as a Louis Vuitton garment: the Louis Vuitton labels, not a Supreme-only label set.
That is the extent of what we can state as fact. We do not have a published list of every label variant, size run or colourway, and we do not claim one. If a seller's piece is a colour or cut you cannot find in public coverage of the collaboration, ask where it comes from.
Worth knowing
The real hoodie is a Louis Vuitton product that carries Supreme's logo, not a Supreme hoodie with a pattern added. Judge the garment as a Louis Vuitton clothing piece first and as a Supreme piece second.
Supreme Vuitton Hoodie: What the Counterfeits We Reviewed Look Like
These are observations from counterfeit hoodies and sweatshirts that came through authentication, described as what we saw and not as tests that clear a piece.
A monogram only on the hood. One sweatshirt sold as a Supreme Louis Vuitton hoodie had a plain red body, with the monogram only on the hood and a box logo on the front. Public coverage describes the real piece as a monogram hoodie, with the print covering the garment. A plain-bodied sweatshirt is simply a different garment.
The wrong label system. One monogram hoodie carried a Supreme neck label and Supreme wash tags (a Supreme NYC care label with an RN number) and no Louis Vuitton neck label at all. Another had a Louis Vuitton neck label in the hood and a Supreme "pre-shrunk" tag in the same hood. The public description of the genuine hoodie is a Louis Vuitton garment with Louis Vuitton tags, so a hoodie that arrives with only Supreme tags, or with both houses' tags together, does not match it. We treat that as a strong reason to doubt a piece, not as proof, because we cannot see every genuine label variant.
A different design altogether. A tee sold as "Supreme LV" had small Supreme wording repeated diagonally across a monogram print, with no box logo. Public coverage of the collaboration describes a Box Logo tee, so this is another design that is not a copy of a collaboration piece. It also carried a plain LV logo care label.
Labels that look right. One red hoodie carried a full Louis Vuitton label set: the woven neck label, the size tag with MADE IN ITALY, a composition label reading 88% cotton and 12% viscose, a care label and the size-table label with the Japan distributor block. That is the same wording and layout we show on genuine tees in our Louis Vuitton clothing guide, and it matches the composition in the public Sotheby's description. It still came back counterfeit.
Worth knowing
That last example is why this guide gives you no label checklist that clears. Counterfeiters copy Louis Vuitton's label set closely, including the size table and composition line, and a label that matches the public description proves nothing. Made in Italy, or any other country, is never a tell on its own.
How to Check a Supreme LV Hoodie Before You Buy
Work through these in order. A failure on any of them is a reason to stop. A pass on all of them is not a clearance.
- Is it a design that was part of the collaboration? Compare it with public coverage of the FW17 line (listed below). A plain-bodied sweatshirt, an unusual colour, or a tee with a repeating Supreme word is not a copy of a collaboration piece.
- Is the monogram all over, front, back, sleeves and hood? Public sources describe the real hoodie with the monogram covering the garment. Look for a pattern that stops at a seam or leaves a plain panel.
- Whose labels does it carry? Louis Vuitton labels, not Supreme-only labels. Both systems together is a mismatch. Compare the neck label, size tag, composition label and size-table label with the genuine set in our Louis Vuitton clothing guide, including the guide's slips (a Certilogo or "scan to check" label, mixed-case Japan K.K.) which can condemn but never clear.
- Does the box logo sit on the monogram the way the real one does? Compare against photographs from a verified source. We do not publish a measurement for this because we cannot support one.
- Does the provenance hold up? The real hoodie came from Louis Vuitton's limited release. Ask for a receipt, the original box and where it was bought. A "COA" supplied by a seller is not proof: one hoodie sold with a certificate of authenticity came back counterfeit.
Why the Price and the Packaging Prove Nothing
The real hoodie is a high-priced collector's piece (Sotheby's estimated one at 4,000 to 6,000 USD in 2020), so a Supreme LV hoodie sold for a normal Supreme-hoodie price is a mismatch you can see before looking at a single label. A high price proves nothing either. The Louis Vuitton box, tags and dust cover are context, not evidence: counterfeits ship with them.
For the same reason, do not treat "Supreme Louis Vuitton" belts, wallets, backpacks or scarves as covered by this guide. Many of those are not authentic collaboration pieces at all, and the genuine pieces we have not photographed are not described here.
Get a Professional Opinion on a Supreme LV Hoodie
If the hoodie is a design from the 2017 collaboration, it is worth real money, and the good copies reproduce Louis Vuitton's labels. LuxeDetect authenticates Louis Vuitton and Supreme clothing from clear photos: the full front and back, the box logo up close, a sleeve, the hood, the neck label, the size tag and every satin label inside. Start an authentication before you pay or list.
A code that checks out doesn't prove the item is real. Counterfeiters copy genuine codes.
Our authenticators check the labels, print and stitching of your Supreme against verified references, from $15. You get a verdict within 24 hours, and a Certificate of Authenticity if the item passes.

How can I tell if my Supreme Louis Vuitton hoodie is real?
Start by checking it is a design from the 2017 collaboration (a red hoodie with the box logo over an all-over monogram), then check it carries Louis Vuitton labels and not only Supreme ones. Neither check clears a piece, because counterfeits copy the label set closely. For a hoodie worth real money, a specialist review of the garment and its labels is the safer route.
Is there a real Supreme x Louis Vuitton hoodie?
Yes. Louis Vuitton and Supreme released a collaboration in 2017 that included a red monogram Box Logo hoodie, shown at Louis Vuitton's Fall/Winter 2017 menswear show. Most hoodies sold today under the name are not that piece.
What does a real Supreme LV hoodie look like?
Public sources describe a red cotton hoodie with white graphics: the Supreme box logo over an all-over Louis Vuitton monogram in red and white, made by Louis Vuitton. Sotheby's lists the composition of one as 88% cotton and 12% viscose, made in Italy, with Louis Vuitton tags. We do not have a verified genuine one of our own to photograph.
Does a Louis Vuitton label mean a Supreme vuitton hoodie is real?
No. We have seen a counterfeit hoodie with a full, correctly worded Louis Vuitton label set, so a matching label proves nothing. A Supreme-only label set on a monogram hoodie, or both houses' tags together, is a reason to doubt it.
Are Supreme LV hoodies with a plain body or a different pattern real?
They are not copies of the collaboration pieces described in public coverage. We reviewed a sweatshirt with the monogram only on the hood and a tee with Supreme wording repeated over a monogram print, both counterfeit.
Can a Supreme LV hoodie come with a certificate and still be fake?
Yes. A certificate of authenticity is something a seller supplies, and we have seen a hoodie sold with one that came back counterfeit. Judge the garment, its labels and where it was bought.
Can I authenticate a Supreme Louis Vuitton hoodie from photos?
Yes. What decides it is how the design, the monogram, the labels and the construction fit together against verified pieces. Send the full front and back, the box logo, the neck label, the size tag and every satin label. For an expensive hoodie, a specialist review is the safer route.
Are the Supreme LV belts, wallets and backpacks the same story?
Many of those designs are not authentic collaboration pieces, and we have not documented the genuine ones here. Use the same approach: check that the design matches public coverage of the collaboration, then get it reviewed.
