Goyard Serial Number Checker
Decode the factory code and production date from the serial number heat-stamped inside your Goyard bag. Understand what the 3-letter code and 6-digit date mean — and what to check next.
Enter your Goyard serial number
Find the serial number heat-stamped into the leather inside your bag — usually on the interior lining near the bottom or on a leather tab. It starts with 3 letters (factory code) followed by 6 digits (month + year). Example: BAE032019 or MAE112022. Spaces and hyphens are ignored.
A correct serial format does not prove authenticity.
Goyard is the #2 most counterfeited luxury brand. Sophisticated fakes replicate the serial format exactly. The Goyardine canvas pattern, leather trim, hardware weight, and stitching must all be verified. Get a professional authentication →
How to Read the Goyard Serial Number
Goyard serials follow a fixed 9-character format: 3 letters + 6 digits. The digits encode the exact month and year of manufacture.
| Part | Format |
|---|---|
| Factory code | 3 letters |
| Month | 2 digits (01–12) |
| Year | 4 digits |
BAE 03 2019
- BAE — factory/workshop code
- 03 — March (month of manufacture)
- 2019 — year of manufacture
Full reading: made at the BAE workshop in March 2019.
Where to Find the Serial Number
Goyard serials are heat-stamped (not printed) into the leather. They are intentionally discreet — look at an angle under bright light. The impression is fine and shallow.
| Model | Where to look |
|---|---|
| Saint Louis Tote (PM/GM) | Heat-stamped into the leather tab on the interior lining — often near the zipper pocket or interior base |
| Artois Tote | Interior leather tab, same position as the Saint Louis |
| Bellechasse | Leather tab on the interior back wall |
| Anjou Tote (reversible) | Inside the leather tab on the main compartment lining |
| Cap-Vert | Leather tab near the interior zip pocket |
| Alpin backpack | Interior leather tab, usually on the inner back panel |
Red Flags Beyond the Serial Number
Sophisticated Goyard fakes get the serial format right. These physical tells are harder to fake.
⚠ Inked or printed serial — not stamped
Authentic Goyard serials are heat-stamped into the leather. The impression sits below the surface and catches light at an angle. If it looks painted on, that's a fake.
⚠ Characters are thick, deep, or irregular
Genuine stamps are fine, thin, and precise. Counterfeits tend to stamp too deep or with uneven pressure — letters look blurry or inconsistent.
⚠ Goyardine canvas chevrons misaligned at seams
On authentic Goyard bags, the hand-painted Y-chevron pattern aligns across seams. Fakes frequently misalign here — check where the body meets the handles.
⚠ Hardware feels light or the logo engraving is shallow
Goyard hardware is heavy brass. The GOYARD engraving on clasps and studs should be crisp and deep — not stamped lightly or painted.
⚠ Leather trim is too stiff or smells synthetic
The natural leather trim on a genuine Goyard softens with use. Fresh fakes often use stiffer, plastic-smelling leather that feels wrong.
Why no publicly searchable Goyard database exists
Unlike some brands, Goyard does not operate a public serial number lookup. The factory codes are internal workshop identifiers — Goyard has never published their full meaning. This is by design: it forces buyers to rely on physical authentication rather than a code check alone.
