Ferragamo Serial Number and Shoe Code Checker

Ferragamo shoes have no serial number to look up. What they have is a lining print: a letter code, a model number, a US size and a width letter. This tool reads it and flags the formats we have only seen on counterfeits. A code that fits proves nothing. A mismatch is the useful signal.

Where to find the code

Women’s shoesPrinted on the side lining, inside the shoe, usually in gold or black.
Men’s shoesPrinted on the tongue lining or the heel lining.
Leather soleStamped “Salvatore Ferragamo / MADE IN ITALY”, often with the same US size and width as the lining.
Bags and walletsA small heat-stamped leather tab or plate inside the main compartment, on older pieces.

Enter the lining print

Inside the shoe, on the side lining of women’s pairs or the tongue or heel lining of men’s, Ferragamo prints a letter code, a model number, a US size and a width letter, for example DS 58304 B69 7½ B. Type the whole line. “7 1/2” and “7.5” are fine.

Who is the pair for?

Where does the lining or sole say it was made?

Compare the box label (optional)

Many fake Ferragamo pairs carry a correctly formatted lining code, and some fakes reuse one code across several pairs.

There is no public Ferragamo serial lookup, so the model digits cannot be checked against anything. This tool tells you whether a code fits Ferragamo's format. It never says a pair is real. A match is expected on real and fake pairs alike; only a mismatch tells you something. Code looks right but still unsure? Get the pair checked from $15 →

How the shoe lining code is built

Take DS 58304 B69 7½ B: DS is the prefix, 58304 the model, B69 the variant, 7½ the US size and B the width. Spacing varies, and men’s pairs often put the width before the size, so the order alone is not a tell.

PartMeaning
PrefixDSTwo letters. D codes (DA, DS, DQ…) are usually women’s lines; UG, UR, ZM, LN, MS, TV usually men’s; TZ, GC, JQ on sneakers. A pattern with exceptions, so the tool treats it as a hint only.
Model58304Four to six digits, sometimes absent. There is no lookup, so it cannot be checked.
VariantB69A letter and two digits, or three digits (such as 240 or 338 on Vara pumps). Colour, heel or material. Not decoded.
US size7½Always a US size, whole or half. Women’s roughly 4 to 12, men’s roughly 5 to 15.
WidthBAAAA, AAA, AA, A, B, C, D, E, EE, EEE (also written 2A, 4A, 2E, 3E, or EE/EEE), and M on some casual lines. B is women’s medium, D is men’s medium.

What the tool flags

About four in ten counterfeit pairs with a readable code break the format in one of these ways. Most genuine pairs we have reviewed never do.

  • •An EU size where the US size belongs, such as “38”, “43” or “45”.
  • •A hyphenated number instead of a letter code, such as “902-2 38” or “595-73 41”.
  • •A Japanese centimetre size such as “245 (1.5)” with no US size after it.
  • •A width letter Ferragamo does not use, such as N or W.
  • •A country other than Italy on the lining or the sole.

What it does not flag

Each of these appears on genuine Ferragamo pairs.

  • •No model digits (for example “LN 9½ E”).
  • •The width before the size, common on men’s pairs (“ZM 044665 D 10”).
  • •A three-digit variant such as 240 or 338 before the US size.
  • •Spaces in odd places, or a handwritten code on a vintage pair.
  • •M or EE/EEE as the width.
  • •A prefix outside the common list.

Ferragamo bag serial numbers

Older Ferragamo bags and wallets carry a heat-stamped code on a leather tab inside, in the form AB-21 1234: two letters, a separator (a dash, a slash or none), a two-digit category and four characters. Vintage pieces may show one letter and six digits (L 123456). Recent bags with the newer “FERRAGAMO” branding carry a “FERRAGAMO MADE IN ITALY” plate; we have not seen a code format on those.

  • •The category matches Ferragamo’s retail article codes: 21 women’s bags, 22 wallets and small leather goods, 24 men’s bags, 67 belts. A different category is unusual, not a fake sign.
  • •The letters and the last four characters are not decoded, and no public lookup exists. Fake bags carry perfectly formed codes too.
  • •The stronger signal on a bag is the label: a sewn “MADE IN CHINA” or “100% PU” care label is something we have seen on fake Ferragamo bags and never on genuine ones.

What this tool can't tell you

  • •Whether the item is real. About six in ten counterfeit pairs with a readable code carry one that fits the format, and some fakes reuse the same code across several pairs.
  • •Whether a model number exists. There is no public Ferragamo lookup.
  • •Anything about pairs with no readable code. Roughly a third of the fake orders we see show no legible lining print at all.
  • •The model name or colour from the variant characters. Those are not published.

Frequently asked questions

Do Ferragamo shoes have a serial number?
Not one you can look up. Inside the shoe Ferragamo prints a lining code instead: a letter prefix, a model number, a variant, a US size and a width letter, for example DS 58304 B69 7½ B. There is no public Ferragamo database, so the model digits cannot be checked against anything. What you can check is whether the print fits Ferragamo's format.
Where is the size code inside Ferragamo shoes?
On women's shoes it is printed on the side lining, inside the shoe. On men's shoes it is on the tongue lining or the heel lining. Leather soles are also stamped "Salvatore Ferragamo / MADE IN ITALY", often with the same US size and width, and the box label should carry the same size and width too.
What do the width letters on Ferragamo shoes mean?
They are US widths. Ferragamo uses AAAA, AAA, AA, A, B, C, D, E, EE and EEE (also written 4A, 2A, 2E, 3E or EE/EEE), plus M on some casual and espadrille lines. B is medium on women's pairs and D is medium on men's. A width such as N or W is not one Ferragamo uses.
Is an EU size inside Ferragamo shoes a sign of a fake?
It is a strong warning sign. Ferragamo prints US sizes inside its shoes. An EU size such as 38 or 43, often next to a hyphenated number like 902-2, is a format we have only seen on counterfeits. The same goes for a Japanese centimetre size such as 245 with no US size after it.
If the Ferragamo code looks right, does that mean the shoes are real?
No. About six in ten counterfeit pairs with a readable code carry one that fits the format, and some fakes reuse the same code across several pairs. A code that fits proves nothing on its own. Only a mismatch tells you something, so check the sole, the insole and the hardware as well.
How do I read the serial number inside a Ferragamo bag?
Older Ferragamo bags carry a heat-stamped code such as AB-21 1234: two letters, a two-digit category and four characters. 21 is women's bags, 22 wallets and small leather goods, 24 men's bags and 67 belts. There is no public lookup, and fake bags carry well-formed codes too. A "MADE IN CHINA" or "100% PU" label is the stronger warning.
