Enter your Dior date code
The date code is embossed on a small leather tab sewn into the interior lining — typically near a side seam or inside pocket. It starts with 2 letters followed by 4 digits. Common formats: MA0624 or DO-12-20 (hyphens and spaces are ignored).
A date code alone does not prove authenticity.
High-quality counterfeits replicate plausible date codes. Always evaluate stitching quality, hardware weight, leather grain, interior finishing, and font consistency alongside the code. Get a professional authentication →
How to Read a Dior Date Code
Dior date codes follow a consistent 6-character structure. The first two characters identify the production atelier; the final four encode the month and year.
| Segment | Meaning |
|---|---|
| First 2 characters | Factory / atelier code (e.g. MA, DO, DI) |
| Digits 3–4 | Month of production (01 = January … 12 = December) |
| Digits 5–6 | Last 2 digits of the production year |
Example: MA0624 → factory MA, June (06) 2024 (24).
Dior Date Code Eras
Christian Dior introduced date codes in the early 1990s. Pre-1990 vintage pieces typically have no code.
| Era | Format |
|---|---|
| Pre-1990 (Vintage) | No date code |
| Early 1990s–present | 2 letters + 4 digits |
Where is the date code on a Dior bag?
The date code is embossed directly onto a small rectangular leather tab sewn into the interior lining — commonly near a side seam, the back wall, or inside a zip pocket. On Lady Dior bags it often appears on the bottom interior panel. The code is debossed (pressed in) rather than printed, so it may be subtle and require angling the bag toward light to read clearly.
No code on my Dior bag?
Vintage Christian Dior pieces made before the early 1990s were not date-coded. If your bag appears vintage in style, construction, and hardware, the absence of a code is normal. For post-1990 bags, a missing code is a red flag worth investigating further.
