Canada Goose Style Number Checker

Decode the style number on a Canada Goose care label: the model, who it is cut for, and the variant. Then see whether it fits the coat in front of you. This is a decoder plus a few consistency checks, not an authenticity test.

Read this first: fakes use real style numbers.

In our archive, almost every fake with a readable label (about 96%) carried a real Canada Goose style number. A match proves nothing. Only an inconsistency tells you something: a blank style line, a women's code in a men's coat, or a vest code in a parka. Even with your answers filled in, these checks would have caught at best about 37% of the fakes we saw.

Three things on the label, and what each is worth

Style numberTop of the white care label, e.g. STYLE: 2062M.Four digits for the model, a letter for the wearer, sometimes a variant suffix. This is what the tool reads.
RN / CA numberLower on the care label: RN 153934 and CA 01201.Company registration numbers, the same on every coat. Fakes print them correctly, so they prove nothing.
HologramA small rectangular sticker on a white fabric tab, next to the blue Downmark tag.Dates the coat to an era. Fakes copy it, polar bear included, so it is not decisive.

Read the care label

The style number is at the top of the white care label, for example STYLE: 2062M. It is not the CA number (CA 01201) or the RN number. Fakes print those correctly too.

Leave it empty if the style line on the label is blank.

Who is it for? (optional, but it is what catches fakes)

The label lines up? Now check these three things.

  1. 1.Arm disc: dense, sharp embroidery, the correct land-mass outline and evenly spaced text. Black Label coats carry a black, grey and white disc, and that is genuine.
  2. 2.Down fill: very warm and light for its bulk, with evenly filled, springy baffles. A heavy coat that is not notably warm is filled with something else.
  3. 3.Hardware: YKK zippers that run smoothly, a heavy two-way main zip, snaps with clean branding.

How a Style Number Reads

Four digits, then one letter for the wearer, then sometimes a variant suffix. A trailing "R" means regular fit. The same four digits can be two different models: 5055M is the Lodge Hoody but 5055L is the Camp Hoody, so the letter matters.

Old Numbers Are Not Wrong Numbers

Canada Goose renumbers models between eras. An older number on a coat dates it to an earlier run; it is not a mistake.

ModelNumbers, oldest to newest
Expedition (men's)4565M → 2051M
Chilliwack7950M → 7999M → 2050M
Langford2062M → 2052M
Chateau3426M → 2053M
Trillium6550L → 6660L
Shelburne3802L → 3802W

Hologram Eras

The hologram is a small rectangular sticker on a white fabric tab, next to the blue Downmark tag. Match it to the coat's era. Fakes copy both serial formats, and fake holograms show the polar bear too, so a present hologram is not decisive.

EraWhat to expect
Before FW2011No hologramNormal for older coats. Check the labels, disc and fill instead.
2011–2017First-generation hologramUsually a "CL" plus seven-digit serial.
Fall 2017 onNewer hologramOften with a small square DataMatrix "CG" tag.

Why there is no "real or fake" answer here

Canada Goose has no public code check. It authenticates only within 30 days of purchase from an authorized retailer, with proof of purchase. Counterfeiters copy real style numbers, the RN and CA numbers, and the hologram. So this tool tells you what the label claims and flags a label that contradicts the coat. It cannot clear one.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the style number on a Canada Goose jacket?
It is printed at the top of the white care label inside the coat, on a line that reads STYLE followed by four digits and a letter, for example STYLE: 2062M. It is not the RN 153934 or CA 01201 number lower on the label. Those are company registration numbers that are the same on every coat.
What do the letters in a Canada Goose style number mean?
The letter after the four digits says who the garment is cut for: M is men's (also used on unisex accessories), L is women's, W is the newer women's code, K is kids, Y is youth and B is baby. Some codes add a suffix: A for Fusion Fit, B for Black Label, PB for the PBI edition, NF for no fur and 1 for a fabric variant. A trailing R means regular fit.
Does a real style number mean my Canada Goose is authentic?
No. In our archive almost every fake with a readable label (about 96%) carried a real Canada Goose style number, so a match proves nothing. What does tell you something is an inconsistency: a blank style line, a women's code sewn into a men's coat, or a code for a different kind of garment, such as a parka number in a vest.
Why does my Canada Goose have a different style number than the one listed online?
Canada Goose renumbers models between eras. The men's Expedition was 4565M and is now 2051M; the Chilliwack went 7950M, 7999M, then 2050M; the Langford went 2062M to 2052M. An older number on a coat dates it to an earlier production run. It is not a mistake on its own.
Can I check a Canada Goose style number or hologram with Canada Goose?
Not publicly. Canada Goose has no online code check. It authenticates only within 30 days of purchase from an authorized retailer, when the original buyer has proof of purchase. Outside that window, a coat is judged on the arm disc, the labels, the construction and the down fill.
Is the RN 153934 or CA 01201 number on my Canada Goose a sign it is real?
No. RN 153934 and CA 01201 are Canada Goose's registration numbers and appear on every coat, so counterfeiters print them too. They are almost always correct on fakes. Use the style number at the top of the care label instead, and check that its gender letter and model match the coat.
