Prada Serial Number Checker
Validate the serial number from the interior leather patch of your Prada bag and learn what to check on the authenticity card, zipper, and nylon — the details that separate genuine Prada from fakes.
Enter your Prada serial number
Find the serial number on the white leather patch sewn inside your bag — usually on the interior back wall or side pocket. It's typically 12–16 alphanumeric characters. The same number should also appear on your black Prada authenticity card. Example: BN1988_V_OOO or 1BA863. Spaces and hyphens are ignored.
Prada nylon is the most counterfeited luxury material in the world.
21.3% of all counterfeit luxury submissions to professional authenticators are Prada nylon pieces. A matching serial format is not enough — the card, zipper, nylon weave, and hardware all need inspection. Get a professional authentication →
Where to Find the Serial Number
Prada serials are on a white leather patch sewn into the interior. The same number appears on the black authenticity card that came with the bag.
| Model | Serial location |
|---|---|
| Galleria / Saffiano Lux | White leather patch on the interior back wall, near the base |
| Re-Edition 2000 / 2005 | Small white leather tab near the interior zip, or on the lining |
| Cleo | White leather patch on the interior back wall |
| Tessuto (nylon bags) | White leather patch sewn into the lining on the interior back |
| Matinée / Re-Nylon | Leather tab on the interior side or back wall |
| Belt bag / Prada Bag | Interior leather patch near the zip pocket |
| Triangle bag | Interior leather patch; also verify the triangle logo plaque on the exterior |
Prada serial numbers don't encode a date
Unlike Louis Vuitton or Chanel, Prada does not encode production date information into the serial number. It's a unique identifier only. To date a Prada bag, look at the metal triangle plaque (font and finish changed between eras) and the authenticity card format.
Authenticity Card Checks
The black Prada authenticity card is one of the most counterfeited documents in luxury fashion. These details distinguish genuine cards from fakes.
✓ Card is stiff matte black
Authentic Prada authenticity cards are heavy, matte black cardstock — not shiny or thin. Fakes often use glossy cards.
✓ White text is clean and precisely spaced
The "PRADA" text and serial number on genuine cards are printed with clean edges and even weight. Blurry, thin, or uneven printing is a red flag.
✓ Serial matches the interior patch exactly
The serial number on the card must match the number on the interior leather patch character for character. Any mismatch is a clear fake indicator.
✓ No hologram sticker or QR code (pre-2024)
Older Prada authenticity cards have no hologram. Bags from 2024 onwards may include an NFC chip. Adding a hologram sticker to an old-style card is a fake tell.
Prada Nylon (Tessuto): What to Check
Prada nylon is the most counterfeited material in luxury fashion. The differences between genuine Pocone nylon and fake materials are physical — you need to feel and examine the bag, not just the serial.
✓ Pocone nylon has a tight, fine weave
Genuine Prada Tessuto uses Pocone nylon developed specifically for Prada. The weave is very tight and uniform. Fakes use looser, coarser nylon that feels thinner.
✓ Nylon sheen is subtle, not shiny
Authentic Prada nylon has a low, even sheen — not plastic-bright. If it looks like it could be a bin bag, it's a fake.
✓ Interior lining is high-quality fabric
The interior of genuine Prada nylon bags has a fine woven lining. Fakes often use thin, plain-weave linings that feel flimsy.
✓ Zip is Lampo or Riri — engraved PRADA
Authentic Prada bags use Lampo or Riri zippers. The PRADA text on the zipper pull is crisply engraved, not stamped or printed.
No serial tag inside the bag?
Prada bags purchased from 2010 onwards always have a serial patch. If yours is missing and the bag is claimed to be recent, treat that as a significant red flag. Some very early vintage Prada pieces (pre-1990s) may not have the leather patch system — but these are rare and require specialist authentication anyway.
