The serial number is on a white sticker inside the bag (usually in a pocket). A matching number appears on the authenticity card. Formats: 12345678 (6–8 digits, pre-2019) or AB1234CD (alphanumeric, post-2019). Spaces and dashes are ignored.
A serial number alone does not prove authenticity.

No sticker on your bag?
Chanel did not use serial stickers before 1987. Vintage bags from the 1970s and early 1980s are completely normal without a sticker — authentication of these pieces relies on hardware, leather, and construction details rather than a serial number.
